The impact of door colours on mood and ambiance is subjective and can vary based on personal preferences, cultural influences, and individual associations with specific colours. However, certain colour psychology principles and cultural connotations can provide some general insights into how door colours might affect mood and ambiance.

Red – energetic and bold

Red is often associated with energy, passion, and boldness. A red door can create a sense of warmth and excitement. It can also be a powerful focal point, drawing attention to the entrance.

Blue – calm and serene

Blue is known for its calming effects, making it a good choice for creating a serene and relaxing atmosphere. Choose darker shades of blue if you want to convey a sense of trust and stability in your home.

Green – harmony and nature

Green is often associated with nature, growth, and harmony. A green door can help to create a refreshing and calming ambiance. Lighter greens may evoke a sense of balance and renewal.

Yellow – cheerful and inviting

Yellow is associated with happiness and positivity, making it a welcoming colour for doors. If you’re an optimistic, glass-is-half-full sort of person a yellow door can definitely evoke a sense of optimism and energy.

Black – sophistication and elegance

Black doors are far and away the most popular colour for our clients and it’s easy to see why. Black doors are often associated with sophistication and a sense of classic elegance. At the same time, the colour black can create a dramatic contrast, especially when paired with lighter surrounding colours such as grey, blue or cream.

White – clean and timeless

White doors are a close second in the door colour popularity stakes. White doors can create a clean and timeless look, providing a sense of simplicity and purity. Highly versatile white doors can easily complement various styles and colour schemes – they basically go with everything which makes them a great choice for people who love colour elsewhere in their home.

Brown/Wood Tones – warm and earthy

Brown or wood-toned doors can create a warm and earthy ambiance. When it comes to linking with your surroundings, wooden doors are great for evoking a home’s connection with nature.

Purple – royalty and luxury

Purple has historically been associated with royalty and luxury, creating a sense of opulence. In comparison, lighter shades of purple may be linked to creativity and imagination.

It’s essential to consider the overall colour scheme of the exterior and interior of the space when choosing door colours. Additionally, personal preferences, cultural influences, and the surrounding environment can all play a role in how individuals perceive and react to specific door colours.

If you’d like to find out more about the wide variety of door colours we are able to offer, as well as our bespoke colour matching service, please don’t hesitate to contact any of the Secure House team on 0207 859 4207 [email protected]

Powder Coating

Unleashing the Vibrant World of Powder Coating Colours: A Guide to Choosing the Perfect Palette for Your Projects

Powder coating has undoubtedly revolutionized the world of finishing and coating materials, offering a durable, vibrant, and versatile solution for a wide range of projects. Here at Secure House, one of the most exciting aspects of powder coating is the vast array of colours available, allowing you to unleash your creativity and personalize your projects – including doors, windows, gates, shutters and garage doors – like never before.

Look at our communal entrance doors for flats & office→

In this comprehensive guide to powder coating, we will explore the vibrant world of powder coating colours and provide you with valuable insights about how to choose the perfect palette for your projects.

What is Powder Coating?

Powder coating is a dry finishing process that involves applying a finely ground powder to a surface and then curing it under heat to create a tough, protective, and aesthetically pleasing layer.

Powder coating vs. traditional painting

Unlike traditional painting methods, powder coating does not involve the use of solvents and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making it an environmentally friendly and health-conscious choice. Additionally, powder coating offers superior durability, resistance to chipping, fading, and scratching, ensuring a longer-lasting finish.

Explore the colour selection process

We would highly recommend that you identify you specific project goals before you select any colours. Are you aiming for a classic, elegant look, or do you want to make a bold statement? Consider the intended use of the item, its environment, and the emotions you want to evoke every time you see the door, for example.

Harmonize with your surroundings

Always take into account the surroundings where the finished item will be placed. Whether it’s a piece of furniture, a decorative item, or an architectural element, the colours should complement and enhance the existing décor and contribute to a harmonious environment.

Creating visual impact

Don’t be afraid to experiment with contrasting colours to create visual interest and focal points. A well-chosen contrasting colour can draw attention to specific areas of your project, highlighting its unique features.

How to navigate the colour palette

Powder Coating Colour

Understanding the basics of the colour wheel will greatly assist in your final colour selection. Colours are categorized into primary (red, blue, yellow), secondary (green, orange, purple), and tertiary (a mix of primary and secondary) colours. Complementary colours (opposite on the colour wheel) create dynamic contrasts, while analogous colours (adjacent on the wheel) offer a harmonious blend.

Consider trends and personal preferences

Stay informed about current colour trends in design and fashion, but also trust your personal preferences and instincts. Your unique style and taste should shine through in your choice of powder coating colours.

Practical tips for colour application

Always conduct sample testing before committing to a specific colour. The appearance of a colour can vary based on the material, texture, and lighting conditions. Test a small area to ensure the desired outcome.

Custom colour matching

If you have a specific colour in mind that is not readily available, many powder coating providers (including our experts here at Secure House!) offer custom colour matching services. This allows you to achieve the exact shade you envision.

Maintenance and longevity

Consider the practicality of maintaining the chosen colour over time. Powder coating’s durability is an advantage, but certain colours may show wear differently. Choose colours that align with your maintenance preferences.

In summary

Powder coating colours open up a world of creative possibilities, allowing you to breathe life into your projects and make a lasting impression. By understanding the principles of colour selection, harmonization, and practical application, you can confidently navigate the vibrant world of powder coating and choose the perfect palette to bring your visions to life.

Whether you’re adding a pop of colour to furniture, enhancing architectural elements such as doors and windows, or creating unique artworks, powder coating offers an exciting and enduring way to express your creativity.

Secure House success at the NEC!

The Secure House team was delighted to join hundreds of other exhibitors at this year’s UK Construction Week and Grand Designs Live show at the NEC in Birmingham.

We had not one, but two stands at the exhibition. So, Edmundas and the team were kept very busy talking and meeting with visitors who turned up at both stands over the five days.

We shared our stand at the Grand Designs Live show with Paul Weldon, managing director of The Panic Room Company. Both businesses complement each other very well and we attracted significant interest from many different potential clients all with the same objective: optimising security in their homes and businesses.

Sales enquiries generated

Explain Edmundas: “It was great to welcome so many people to the two stands. We were all kept extremely busy for the whole show and generated numerous sales enquiries and new projects that we are currently working on.

“I’d like to thank the Secure House team for all their hard work in making this year’s UK Construction Week such a huge success – we’re already planning and looking forward to next year’s event!”

New showroom, almost complete…

Our brand new showroom, located at Unit 20, Ribocon Way on Progress Park in Luton, is shaping up nicely with construction almost complete.

There are a few finishing touches still being made but the showroom is open to the public and it’s proving to be the ideal place to showcase our entire product range with samples of everything we sell including security doors, security windows, steel security doors, garage doors, sash windows and aluminium bi-fold doors.

A selection of accessories from door handles or other door furniture

On display we also have a selection of accessories from door handles or other door furniture with a focus on antique brass and bronze fittings that we have noticed are currently very popular with many homeowners.

The new showroom is easily accessible from London and is very close to Luton airport so lots of people pop in on their way to pick up or drop off friends and relatives!

One-to-one meeting for anyone

Outlines Edmundas, managing director of Secure House: “We’re open from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday but closed on weekends. However, we are more than happy to arrange a personal, one-to-one meeting for anyone who wants to make an appointment on a Saturday or Sunday – just give us a call or drop us an email and we can easily sort a date and time.

“The new premises are also working as our new headquarters and warehouse and a facility where we can complete the final stages of the manufacturing process, as well as adding finishing touches to our products ready for installation.

“We’ll be holding a Grand Opening event as soon as the showroom is completely ready so watch this space for your invitation! In the meantime, feel free to drop in and see us next time you’re passing.”

Secure House at ecobuild 2018

See you at ecobuild 2018!

We’re going to ecobuild at ExCel in London from 6 – 8 March 2018 and we’d love to see you there on our stand at D1C!

At the show, the Secure House team will be presenting several new additions, specifically for passive homes and other eco building projects, to our extensive security door range. These include the SKYDAS 2000, a steel security door which offers a rating of thermal transmittance of just 1W ((m2K) to effectively save heat in the home. Available in a variety of finishes and shades it offers unlimited design possibilities with single, double, side or upper panels and either an in- or outswing option.

We have examples of the SKYDAS Embassy and SKYDAS Fortress doors

We’ll also have examples of the SKYDAS Embassy and SKYDAS Fortress doors from the Diplomatic range on our stand. Both of these doors conform to the US Department of State Diplomatic Security Forced Entry and Ballistic Resistance of Structural Systems, SD-STD-01.01, Revision G.

The SKYDAS Embassy offers a high level of security against intruders and has been subjected to a 15-minute attack by a team of two testers using heavy-duty burglary tools. The SKYDAS Fortress provides an extra level of security if there is a perceived high risk of burglary.

Test for 45 minutes!

During testing, a team of six testers attacked the SKYDAS Fortress with heavy-duty burglary tools for 45 minutes! Both doors withstood the attacks and therefore represent an excellent choice for any homeowner wanting the ultimate burglar resistant security door that not only performs, but looks fantastic.

Finally, and most exciting, we’re working hard to showcase a brand new product that we hope we will be able to launch at ecobuild. This ‘never seen before’ product is highly innovative and will have multiple applications but you’ll have to visit us on our stand at D1C to see it and find out more!

Grand Designs Live was our last show for 2018 but we look forward to seeing you at a whole host of other exhibitions, including Grand Designs of course, in 2019. Thanks again to everyone who has taken the time to come and see the Secure House team at shows over the last 12 months – see you next year!

Exhibition time!

One year, five exhibitions

This year the Secure House team attended no less than five different exhibitions across the UK and each one was a real success in its own right.

First off, in May, we headed to the Excel Centre in London for Grand Designs Live with possibly our best stand to date and then in June it was over to Surrey for the National Homebuilding & Renovating Show for what turned out to be a record breaking event for the organisers – it was certainly very busy for us too!
