Security doors with facial recognition systems from Secure House

Unlock your front door…with your face!

Smart home security is undoubtedly a multi-million pound business. From surveillance cameras and video doorbells, to steel security doors and automated secure window shutters, there is a wide variety of products on the market all designed to deter intruders and prevent them from gaining access to our property.

There are many different ways we can protect our homes and choosing a security door is still one of the most effective. Fitting the door with a high quality, multi-point locking system is also imperative. But how about combining all of that and installing a fully motorised security door with facial recognition?

Facial recognition is one of the fastest growing smart home security products with more and more homeowners considering its application.

It’s all about facial recognition

From 18th to 20th June we exhibited at IFSEC International 2019 at ExCeL in London. Whilst at the show, we were pleased to see an ever-increasing interest in facial recognition for added home security.

As pioneers of facial recognition, we were keen to display a working example of a fully motorised security door with facial recognition. It generated a huge interest amongst everyone who visited our stand. As a result, several people asked us to visit their homes after the show to discuss bespoke options.

There are many benefits to having a security door with facial recognition. You don’t need keys for a start, nor does entry require a finger print. The door is automatically locked and unlocked with your face. The inclusion of multiple faces is also an option to allow easy access for family members as required.

So, take a look at our fully motorised security door with facial recognition system in action at IFSEC 2019!

How does a facial recognition system work?

Often referred to as biometric technology, facial recognition systems work by taking an image of a face and ‘predicting’ whether the face matches another face stored within the system itself. The technology compares the data and accurately provide potential matches irrespective of facial expression.

Facial recognition systems rely on a smart camera, usually installed within the security door itself, that will associate an individual face with an individual identity. In order to implement successful facial recognition, you must first programme the system by informing it which face belongs to which name. Anyone you want to authorise to enter your home – family, friends or colleagues – must have a profile in the system before they can use the system.

Many systems also include an alarm that will notify you if someone walks up to your home and tries to gain entry, day or night.

Benefits of implementing a facial recognition system

Implementing a security door with a facial recognition system brings with it numerous benefits.

  • No keys are required. Just ask yourself how many times you’ve lost, misplaced or forgotten your door key and the advantage of not needing them is immediately clear!
  • High degree of accuracy. The system will accurately determine whether the person trying to enter the property matches the database of people pre-authorised to enter. If not, an alarm will sound alerting people to the potential intruder.
  • Time saving automation. The inclusion of multiple faces is an option with most systems. This facilitates easy access for all family members as required. And there’s no need to answer the doorbell!

Facial recognition systems are highly affordable and can be combined with a huge range of different styles, sizes and models of security door. If you’re looking for a really smart technology that will help you to protect loved ones and offer unrivalled peace of mind, investing in a motorised security door with a facial recognition system is an absolute must.
